The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 整体完成度很好了，本土视觉元素做得还是不错的，当然整体工业水准和美国还有较大差距。选歌上显然是照顾了最大公约数。最后真的真的要呼吁，公映商业电影确实非常棒，但是大家不要只看到幸存者偏差而忽略了城乡发展严重不平衡，农民工权益以及留守儿童关怀等社会问题。
有为梦想拼搏的热血，有长辈和朋友的友爱，也有冰冷现实的打击。小人物面对大时代，舞出自己风采，有一种悲壮。舞狮电影之前只看过黄飞鸿之狮王争霸，这部感觉也蛮好的。美术太赞啦，我爱木棉花。还有影片插曲也都很好听。昨天下午于影院。
太孤独了，但这可能也是这几年来我最喜欢的公路电影了。最后的明信片上应该把Dewey也画上去的。

优点大过缺点。满屏星爷的影子，还是燃的。可以再燃一点。
有点程式化的故事，按流程走最后总能掐到点泪点。
迄今国慢巅峰。虽然故事还有那么点套路，但民俗不俗套，现实不滥情，情节热血，美工扎实，基本跳脱了动画感，现实电影感很强，真的可以说为国慢电影自豪了。五星
听着五条人和九连真人的歌响起，我不禁在剧院里大喊广东文艺要复兴了吗？
前面踏上舞狮的路 那么快的三个人的结合让我觉得理由不充足 但后半段高潮迭起 我一直以为自己不喜欢敲锣打鼓的吵闹 没想到只是因为那些鼓声没有在对的时间出现 鼓声也会很吸引人的好听
其他这么写实。这人物造型有必要这么分割吗。更生气了。狮子毛写实百分之九十。人物写实百分之一？没一个正常人？得奖开心吗？
重看。后面的戏比前面好。献媚的情况不谈，光是如此对现实的触碰，是连西方3D作品都很难做好的。

很好看，环境和光线做的特别写实，画面意境和剧情起伏紧密联结，极有灵性。陌生的舞狮元素+普世励志故事，台词不尬故事扎实，高潮戏情绪到位，it really works

我怀着期待打开一部部末世电影，直到僵尸怪物扑面而来让我一次次失望。
好久没在电影院看到这么燃的华语电影了，对！你没看错，是华语电影，不是华语动画电影。虽然是动画，但他少有的热血和少年气超过太多真人电影了，不仅画风水准很高，音乐也非常好，使用的剧作结构非常类型片化，几个转折点和细节都很到位。故事内核聚焦于留守儿童的教育和成长以及童工和农民工等非常现实的议题，形式上结合广东舞狮文化，两者匹配的非常成功，这种片子放在春节档都有的一拼。
人设眼睛距离都不提了，也许那些打五星的都长这副德行，十几天打败了别人十几年的努力，然后去搬砖，讽刺睡呢
故事不新颖，画面比较细腻。想当然的被欺负，想当然的遇到恩师，想当然的获胜。
故事老套，情节拼凑，但是不妨碍我走出电影院的时候被感动！喜欢藏在古厝树荫下的那尊佛，那是留守儿童的包容之地；下下铺的少年看到的东方旭日都是在高楼大厦挤压的缝隙中的，那个少年在海市蜃楼和阳光下的背影以及他的狮头，这个画面真的太美了。中国风的狮头细节花了很多的功夫，掉落的那一半露出少年一半的脸，也是一个很美的意境。最后跳擎天柱的时候，所有人，放下固执偏见，为他擂鼓，是因为那个少年在挑战所有人心中曾经的不可能，这件事情需要我们去支持他。少年没有跳上去，但是他把象征自己力量的狮头留着那里，故事到这里就已经足够了，他在少年的时候，成就过他自己，结尾处的彩蛋告诉我们，奇迹发生了又如何呢？生活还是在日复一日地进行着，我好喜欢这个结局，我觉得这才是中式的浪漫，在日复一日的滚滚红尘中期待奇迹又安心打磨的浪漫。
终于 国产动画电影脱离了神话题材也能交出很好的答卷！电影当然也有这样那样的问题 但质感是上乘的 你可以说它增加了许多不必要的流行配乐 许多地方都不够好 甚至可以说它在迎合单一的以阳刚为主的男性审美 但我看到的比较离谱的是 因为男主角眼睛小眼距宽说电影是在迎合西方对中国人的刻板印象哈哈哈 我可去nmd的吧
