The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 结构比较混乱也没有很有趣，迷影到随处可见的前辈reference，ending前还要加插温情戏码，有些镜头的拍法也基本跟传统手持没有两样，为了剧情需要非要摆个可以拍4k的dv拍，也是不要太做作，这些都是束手束脚没放开的表现。
有多大的期待就有多失望 所以说就算是个无神论者别人让你别去的地方你就不要去啊 一直跟rap一样在你耳边叨叨叨同一句 就是为了膈应观众是吧/ 最后那句纪念我的小天使一出来我都要看笑了 作为恐怖片让人看笑了也是一种本领👍
现在室外实时温度37℃左右，地表65+℃，室内开着空调23℃，喝了一大桶零度可乐，刚去量了一下体温36.8℃，电影看完了，华语电影特别是类型片最后的堡垒可能只剩宝岛了，整个下来除了有很多日系韩系的恐怖元素，更是让我想到了香港八零年代桂治洪的“邪”三部曲还有徐老怪早期的cult系列
太无助了
这才是国产恐怖片正确的打开方式，最后的视觉停留手法简直了，沉浸感拉满，让我一度怀疑是不是错觉，还有一个最让我拍手叫绝的就是，电影中用中文台词说出:你叫什么名字？突然发现恐怖片语言沉浸也很重要，看国外的恐怖片只能从视觉和音效上感受，台词语言靠字幕去反应，这种视觉音效台词➕本土宗教结合的冲击原来才是恐怖片的正常打开方式，国产电影加油！
有人说恐怖，有人说晦气，我觉得是邪。柯孟融勘破了民俗志怪类恐怖片的三大法宝：图腾，经文，邪神。图腾往往象征着危险信号，是原始恐惧的传承与延伸，在视觉暂留的魔法加持下，让人陷入半信半疑的心虚状态。经文则是听觉陷阱，循环往复的加深印象，引人犯错，若是一不小心默念，便是一身冷汗。邪神=无法控制的至高力量，该意象想要成立，则必须依托于超自然恐怖奇观：虫、溃烂、献祭、封印，多个场景的冲击之下，求神拜佛保平安的敬畏与恐惧油然而生，瞬间沦为邪神信徒。很多人因为所谓的诅咒而打一星，这其实就是信了咒的邪，正中导演下怀，越是破口大骂，越代表恐惧强烈，反而印证电影本身的优秀。“你相信祝福吗？”看似人畜无害的台词，却让我头皮发麻，心有余悸，人类无时无刻都在寻求庇佑的念头，才是永恒的魔咒，我要听十遍张学友的《祝福》。
喜欢！这是个完全个体的抗疫故事，反思有，个体反抗有，看痛了，太难得了，虽然我知道电影也没站多么高看多么远，没有太多批判和思考。也没什么春秋笔法，它就是用镜头语言说一个事：it matters，he matters
不知道你们有没有发现，湾湾的片子之前大陆没资源的时候，人家好评如潮，一旦大陆上了资源，口碑猛跌，是因为大陆人欣赏水平高？还是只是单纯的难伺候？

是包著恐怖片外衣的親情片，也是包著親情片外衣的恐怖片，厲害就厲害它在嚇人與感人之間達到了同舟並進，相輔相成，而且還讓我真的跑去查是不是有這個宗教這個神明，以偽紀錄恐怖片來說，這樣算是非常成功的了
妹子比较勇，自己看了，我比较怂，听得讲解。然后我们认为：1.这些小家子小气的东南亚画风邪神很缺乏可持续发展眼光，抓住些信徒就使劲薅羊毛，都给薅秃了；2.湾湾需要知道，我们社会主义国家没有什么陈年老洞能霍霍几代人，立刻马上给你铲平了修路，工地墙上还要贴社会主义核心价值观。想作妖，想peach吧，哼！
看到一半就觉得这实在太克了，不可名状的上古邪神；接近真神后陷入癫狂自毁的状态；而最后的镜头简直克总发糖。很惊喜，虽然小说领域不乏优秀作品，但作为电影把亚州民俗文化和克系恐怖结合起来这应该是第一次……吧？

心理+视觉的恐怖，xiejiao令人疯狂。。很神奇的是利用了视觉效果，就是解释符文的那段，你盯久了，然后符文就会出现在眼前。村庄多拍点就好了
这个剪接的顺序很奇怪，作者性太强，但某种程度上与伪纪录的形式相悖。调度有些凌乱，些许下咒的内容令人会有生厌的反感，我知道这是想吓唬人也知道这就是个电影，但是这种方式跟电影结束之后字幕告诉你没鬼都是精神病其实某种诡异的有异曲同工之处……我们什么时候能放开了拍邪教和这些邪事儿呀
