The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? With a keen eye and fresh take, Aselton’s directorial debut shines with crisp storytelling and fine-tuned performances. there is no art in disemboweling people in this movie. the way they take out internal organs is disgusting. you don’t have to literally cut people open to look deep into people.

当疼痛被精密手术量化展示时，语言也只能如梦中呓语般赘述情感。以为是卡夫卡式的饥饿艺术家展开，却发展的越来越迷离，落在了救赎上。
而贯穿始终的行为艺术，更带来的是关于身体和意志的决定论辩驳。人类在未来究竟会去往什么样的高度？是进化迭代中新新人类黑暗起舞，或者罪行之下一行热泪里反射出的亮度……
柯南伯格难得出山，而且视听和故事把控力还在。道具实感重，破败的后现代风格场地本身就蕴含着许多含义。故事虽后现代，但社会隐喻、探讨议题以及黑色幽默都很明确。
对80年代作品如Videorome的回归，献身于进化，献身于New Flesh。Saul Tenser此时更像一位圣人。
