The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 小熊猫也太！！！！！！可爱了吧！！！！！Shut up and take my money 需要全套毛绒玩具周边，不上院线太可惜了。剧情节奏也都很流畅，音乐复古好听，少女情怀贴切夸大又好笑，5/5。
用一个可爱的巨型小熊猫来指代华裔小姑娘的青春期烦恼，皮克斯在讲述不同族裔多元化故事的道路上是越走越宽了。

红熊猫可爱疯了！想知道妈妈的熊猫为啥有那么大。故事很简单，但流畅可爱。为啥无法在国内过审呢？是宣扬了追星还是把柴尼斯文化搞得特古老诡异？安妮胃，想起我小时候的电子宠物鸡，最后因为我懒得打扫它的粑粑给臭死了，导演跟我一代人～
皮克斯还是那么有深度，把中国式教育下的孩子刻画的太鲜活了…成长中每个人都曾叛逆过，但大部分人都封印了真实的自我，磨平棱角随波逐流是这里绝大多数人的真实写照。人云亦云的环境中我们也有特立独行的权利，脱下面具，勇敢地做回自己吧！
皮克斯这几年多数有个问题，很浅，巴不得把立意怼到大家面前，初潮啊，青春叛逆啊，文化差异啊，这部结尾高潮有点乱了电影本身的气质，但是用流行嘻哈和家族鸣唱做对比，实则也把电影要说的内容细化了，反而加分了。怎么说呢，退步的皮克斯，依旧是好莱坞退步的动画产业老大！
小熊猫还是很萌的，故事依然很俗套，刻板印象不少。
就是说女的好不容易嫖一次要从性原型心理一直谈到legalize sex work才能完成全套self found心理建设，男的脱下裤子就差不多了。累还是女的累。感觉这电影虽然看着是挺人文，但是细枝末节都透露着predictable………………

Emma的表演大师课，鲜肉“鸭王”也贡献了惊艳的亮相，传说中的行业标杆真的令人震撼…一室之内，调度的设计都好精准，导演没有让这部舞台剧模式的剧本真的变成毫无电影感的戏剧录播，体验清爽。整个故事真的踩在当代人普遍的心灵症结上了，身体自主、原生家庭、女性高潮…不一而足。口号式的内容填满了文本缝隙，却也不令人讨厌，因为这对组合真的太有火花了。是一部可以轻松推荐给所有人看，在结尾笑泪相望的那种电影～
与虎妈和解之战——就是女儿当自强当自励（立，最后10分钟挺燃，就是其实小姑娘以前不也在做自己吗，矛盾没有太激烈的亚子。
故事太简单，过于图解主题，导致整体观看过程无趣、尴尬、不耐。
主题是成长；一种东方人（华人）特有的教育观念，对孩子有强烈控制欲。孩子也在孝子的传统观念下不做反抗，一直做着乖孩子，隐藏着心里的红熊猫；还有多元移民国家（北美）的包容，中西文化混合；四城男孩是西城男孩，也是来自四个不同国家的粉丝女孩；华人的脸型建模很贴近现实；女性主导，父亲一旁
看这部电影前需要了解一点，性解放不等于性开放。

实在太可爱了！画面可爱、人物可爱。立意也很棒：成长、改变和母女关系。导演这么年轻，真有才华！期待更多自由的灵魂创作出更多关于女孩、女人、华人的故事～
